American Robin (Turdus migratorius) - Samuel Holland Park, Quebéc |
Just east of Québec, Cap Tourmente Wildlife Reserve protects a major staging ground for Greater Snow Geese. They are the eastern equivalent of the Lesser Snow Geese which gather twice a year in tens of thousands at Freezeout Lake (near where I grew up). A similar migration spectacle can be observed here each spring and fall at Cap Tourmente (just under 1-hour's drive from Québec). We saw ~ 8,000 geese (the migration was just starting), as well as other birds including this woodpecker, a peregrine falcon, turkey vultures, and even a familiar (from MT) gray jay.
